Cha v'aller

His name is Jean-Michel, alias Cha v'aller; born in Saint Avold, he grew up in Moselle (France, Grand Est region). At 13 he joined a choir, where he learned to sing and took up the guitar.

By the age of 16, he was playing with friends and hosting parties, performing variety covers and traditional songs in French, German and English.

For over forty years, he put music on the back burner, but returned to it in 2021. He currently collaborates on animation and music projects with and for people of all ages, but also plays alone and performs his own compositions.

His musical inspirations (melodies, rhythms and arrangements) are very diverse: Bob Dylan, I muvrini, ... and many others.

The inspiration for the texts is equally varied.

Themes include gratitude, empathy, loneliness, encounters, loyalty, tenderness, freedom, hope, disappointment, sexism, support, the passage of time... in fact, all the facets of life.

To tell you the truth!

A self-taught guitarist, author, composer and performer, he can be considered something of a one-man band. He combines words with simple musical phrases using a loop station.

He performs with his looper, electronic drummer, acoustic guitar, harmonicas... sometimes just a guitar.

Chavaller performs as a "single", alone, or in a "band", with others. He can be involved in a variety of projects.

His compositions speak of existence.

Cha v'aller starts from the principle that happiness is not free of pain, and in his songs he likes to add a breath of hope.

In his texts, any resemblance to existing people is not fortuitous, it's existence itself, and often behind it lies a story in which he has found himself at some point in his life; in fact, you'll find yourself there too.
